Researchers strive to develop innovative techniques that allow for precise control over the interactions and functions of biomolecules within the complex environment of living organisms. Bioorthogonal chemistry, a relatively recent addition to the biologist's toolbox, has emerged as a powerful and versatile tool for selectively labeling and functionalizing biomolecules. This technology opens up new horizons in fields such as drug discovery, proteomics and cellular biology by enabling researchers to make controlled modifications to biological macromolecules with unprecedented precision.
