Does the Index Futures Destabilize the Underlying Spot Market? Some Evidence from Frensh Stock Exchange

Ayadi Chiraz

This paper examines the dynamic relationship between the futures and the spot frensh market. It aims to contribute in the literature by controlling for possible disturbances in the long-run equilibrium relationship between these two markets. The univariate analysis indicates that the stock prices evolve according to two different regimes: a low volatility regime and a high volatility regime. Our contribution is to determine the dynamics of the relationship which exists between spot and futures markets using the Markov-switching model. This econometric technique provides empirical and graphic evidence allowing of whether and of how the introduction of a futures market changes the variability structure of stock prices in the underlying spot market, it allows precisely to demonstrate the variabilities regimes shifts and reveals if the variability changes transitory or permanently. Our evidence from Markov switching approach suggests that futures have influence on spot market during both calm and turbulent periods, and that the introduction of the index futures has an effect of stabilizer on the stock market.

An Empirical Study of Customer Value, Customer Trust and Customer Loyalty Based on E-Commerce

Yen-Jo Kiang

In today’s business world, computers are connected to the broadband wide area network (WAN), allowing businesses to integrate industrial value chains and provide customers with various value-added services. Consequently, the virtual community of a public service network can be created and marketing channels in e-generation can be established to provide customers with relevant information or commodities and services through the use of highspeed transmission systems and interactive delivery. However, if e-commerce operators are not fully aware of the characteristics of e-generation consumers, if website operators lack the necessary competitive edge, or if the Internetbased transaction mechanism is not secure, consumers may not be attracted to or continue their interest in online shopping. In the Internet world of e-commerce, it is difficult to fully grasp the changes in customer demands along with the gradual opening of information on the web. To be profitable, it is more important to obtain the value created by loyal customers for businesses in addition to a wide range of online visitors. By integrating the analyses of e-commerce with 244 questionnaires and validating the data with statistical analysis methods, this study provides e-commerce business owners with suggestions on marketing strategies and proposes future directions for subsequent research based on the research findings.

A Data Analytical Study of the Japanese Equity Market over a Lengthy Period

Jarrett JE and Li Y

The primary goal is to examine the time series of the Japanese equity market over a lengthy period of time to determine aspects of this time series as it moves and what are the factors that may determine its. We study the Index of the Tokyo Exchange over nearly four decades by data analytical methods also known as exploratory data analysis with some principle methods of statistical testing. The aim is to put to rest some arguments concerning the applicability in long range memory modeling some use of methods based serial correlation in the data over this nearly four decades of monthly observations. Those in the past have indicated that Japanese time series of equity prices contain only small percentages of permanent and temporary components. Also, Japanese stock prices are often characterized by “bubbles” in their movements. The data analytics attempts to validate this phenomena over the length of this study.

Italo Calvino and "Finance": The Invisible, Infinite and Illogical City without a Future

Fabrizio Pezzani

The fall of the Berlin Wall and the non-appearance of the external enemy that instrumentally but unscientifically held everyone together threw open the doors of knowledge and the Academy to rational markets, to huge volumes of paper money whose value is no longer understood, only its power, and we endure it all in silence. Yet the deception is obvious because the infinite money supply is inconsistent with the finite dimension in which the human and natural dimension resides. Money operates in a negative infinity that destroys the common good, as Tommaso d’Aquino stated in the "Summa Theologiae" when he spoke of usury. An illogical hypothesis ensues, if due to its fundamental nature the infinite and ungovernable production of money loses its ability to be measured - a set of infinite assets or things cannot be subject to quantification - its value is uncertain if determined by unrealistic elements in a context of power ensuring acceptance of a principle functional to dominance but without a scientific basis. It would seem that a strong dollar creates problems for the economy but strangely not for money that is magically sustained through endless speculations made with derivatives. Ezra Pound affirmed that creating money to continually create more money destroys all social order, decency and beauty. It becomes a logical contradiction without end even when confronted with the evidence; the malignant endlessness of the unlimited increase in money at the expense of the community destroys the "common good". Neoliberalism imposed deregulation and in finance this generated a concentration of wealth that is ungovernable by individual states, enduring its dominion while the process accelerated by globalization facilitated the invasion of this limitless supply of money. Infinite and immeasurable money cannot co-exist with the finiteness of real assets that should be its counterpart. The concentration and lack of rules favouring the "rational" diffusion of instruments measuring the financial equilibria - far from the social dimension of human life - of countries and societies are determining our lives - spread, ratings, etc. - and the trends are governable according to the case.

Ideology of Education in Ancient and Present Society of India - A Study Report

Niladri Sekhar Ghosh

In present society, education is a way to skills development programme. Ideologically it is far away from the philosophy of education. Indian civilization came in earth thousands years ago with the hand of Indus valley civilization. The philosophy of Vedic education is to make a mankind. Spirituality is a soul of education. According to the direction of Rig Veda, first literature in world “Education is something, which makes a man self-reliant and self-less”. Indeed, Vedic people were used spirituality as a method of psycho-behavioral therapy. Continuous up growing number of law and criminal activities are indicating uniquely criminal administration is not able to control this social misery, even education system is failure to produce a mankind in society. Ancient literatures are indicating that seers were incorporated spirituality in informal education system to devolve the sense of humanity and simultaneously they were promoting yogic education to keep emotional balance in life. Practically yog is able to produce healthy body and mind, the effect of yogic practice is universally proved therefore it is also need to add in formal education. On the aspect to include spirituality in education a remarkable outcome has been seen on research report released by Warwick Religions and Education Research Unit (WRERU) at the University of Warwick under the title of “Spirituality in Education: Promoting Children’s Spiritual Development through Values”. It seemed from these report that Children and teachers both are highly benefited due to Sathya Sai Education in Human Values programme (SSEHV). Therefore with the expectation to make a mankind and establish a peaceful social system spiritualism and yogic practice are the basic requirements.

Failure of Foreign Aid in Developing Countries: A Quest for Alternatives

Niyonkuru F

Adequate development strategies and policies to be applied in the developing countries to eradicate poverty have been on trial with no effect ever since the era of structural adjustment programs. The state of underdevelopment of most African countries and many developing countries can be accounted to a variety of factors, many of which are those supposed to bring about remedy. The paper examines, the nature, the relevance of foreign aid given to developing countries and assesses level of influence of other alternatives to development available for the continent. Foreign Aid has been contracted for development projects’ support, supplementing national budget, debt relief, aid to attain the set Millennium Development Goals… which were supposed to lead those countries to middle income status etc. Loans and grants given to accelerate poverty reduction programs have shown little aptitude to reduce poverty. The study showed that the given aid is shrouded with hidden agenda from donors who set unbearable conditionality, hard to meet to yield desired results. At one hand, the inefficacy of foreign aid to eradicate poverty was seen as inherent to its nature and at the other hand, as results of its management and cycling by recipients. Far to bear fruits, the conditionalities attached to some of contacted economic bail out ( from the IMF and WB) to address economic crisis countries can face, it was rather seen as harmful to vulnerable citizens due to its stringent austerity measures and though it may bring about economic stabilization, no indices of economic growth and people’s welfare could be measured. Despite diversified kinds of intervention of the non-governmental organizations and civil societies in their variety social services delivery (in health, mass education and mobilization, education, human rights preservation…), their capacity to lead our nations to macroeconomic growth were not evident as in their good work, face numerous barriers from both donors and governments recipients. Their problem solving strategies fail to be counted on for a sustained macroeconomic development. The New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) which came as a well thought and designed new re-engagement to lay solid foundation for the renewal of African condition, despite its efforts to eradicate poverty, to put African countries on the path of sustainable growth, to halt the marginalization of the African continent in the globalization process, to integrate the continent in the global economy and accelerate the women’s role in development agenda. These beautiful verbiage formulations are yet to be seen on the ground and it seems it had failed to get to its desired destination. The paper recommends a new reawakening in the realm of cooperation and integration among African nations. If foreign aid it to yield good results, the paper suggest casts off the recourse to unfruitful conditionalities which was seen rather harmful. Other development entities such as nonprofit making organizations should help countries invest in long term projects in full workable public-private partnerships model while the state’s role should avoid be investing in both infrastructure and human capital, embark on monetary and fiscal discipline and create enabling environment for business and institutional administrations for aid to produce good results.

Vanya Lazarova

After getting an access to cloud services, the company has to appoint staff to maintain this access. The administrator of cloud services is the employee who supports these operations. In order to perform their job, administrators acquire rights to access user data such as names, addresses, occupations, passwords and so on. The maintenance of user accounts is designed in a manner so that the consumers are protected in a situation like this - the administrators cannot access the user password if the user has changed it during the registration process. External Debts and Economic Growth in Nigeria: An Empirical Study Using Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model

Olasode OS and Babatunde TS

This paper models some economic theories which explained the casual relationship between accumulated funds/ loans from external sources (external debts) and economic growth with a more focus on Nigerian economy, as it is a usually trend for debts of third world and developing countries debts profile to be high, and this case is also the same with Nigeria as the country debts profile is on the increase once more after the debt cancellation of 2005 by the Paris Club of creditors. Also in the innovation by this study is the used of the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ADL) model to capture the effect of externals debts on viability and growth Nigerian economy from 1984-2012. The preliminary and normality tests shows that the variables are positively skewed but are not normally distributes, while the econometric tests of Stationarity (Unit Root Test) and Co-integration Tests conform that all the variables exhibit Stationarity at first differenced and the existence of long-run relationship between the variables was also confirmed by the Johansen Cointegration test carried out. The result from the ordinary least squares method used confirms the existence of a dual behaviour as the lag 1 of external debts has positive while external debts of present year posed a negative effect on the performance of the economy. The recommendations are Nigeria government should ensure that debts incurred are channel towards productive uses and debt management office of the government should strengthen its plans and foster appropriate use of loans in the critical area the need for is identified.
