Organic Sensor for the Detection of Ammonium

Laghlimi C, Smaini MA, Maallah R, Touzara S, El Qouatli S and Chtaini A*

The electrochemical behavior of ammonium was investigated at Ethylene Diamine Tetra-Acetic -modified carbon paste electrode (EDTA-CPE) in NaCl solution. A method was developed for the detection of the trace of this product, based on their redox reaction. The redox peaks of ammonium were observed around -0.50 V and 0.50 V (vs. SCE) in cyclic voltammetry. Experimental conditions were optimized by varying the accumulation time, EDTA loading and measuring solution pH. Calibration plots were linear under the optimized parameters over the herbicides concentration range 0.8 and 16 mmol L-1, with a detection and quantification limits about 9.38.10-7 mol L-1 and 3.21.10-6 mol L-1, respectively.

Design and Simulation of Capacitive Type Comb-Drive Accelerometer To Detect Heart Beat Frequency

Ashok KP, Prakash RGKS and Rao KS*

MEMS accelerometers are one of the most common inertial sensors, a dynamic sensor capable of a vast range of sensing. The basic principle of operation behind the MEMS accelerometer is the displacement of a small proof mass etched into the silicon surface of the integrated circuit and suspended by small beams. MEMS accelerometers in Structural Health Monitoring systems can be able to measure the range of acceleration ± 4g with increasing sensitivity and decreasing cross sensitivity. In this paper, we have designed and simulated the MEMS capacitive comb drive accelerometer with respect to the vibrational frequency of the chest wall. The design consists of a proof mass (4000 μm × 6200 μm) with movable electrodes (2500 μm × 200 μm), fixed beam of electrodes (2500 μm × 200 μm) and a cantilever beam as a spring (1000 μm × 2000 μm). The Device operates in dynamic mode and simulated using COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS 5.2 version software. The output total displacement at 20 Hz is 1.52E-10 μm and at 40 Hz is 1.45E-9 μm, acceleration at 20 Hz is 9.63E-7 m/s2 and at 40 Hz is 9.19E-6 m/s2 is measured. The simulated results are correlated to the modeling results at the range of frequency 20 Hz–40 Hz.

Electrochemical Evaluation of the Antioxidant Capacity of Phenolic Compounds in Virgin Olive Oil

Mourhat Z, Touzara S, Maallah R, Mbarki M and Chtaini A*

Cyclic voltametry (CV) and Square wave voltametry (SWV) were used to study the electrochemical behavior and evaluate the antioxidant capacity of virgin olive oil. Firstly, in this work we illustrate the electrochemical methods based on the preparation and characterization of H2O2 amperometric sensor, then the antioxidant capacity of the virgin olive oil was evaluated by measuring of the of virgin olive oil effect on the H2O2 reduction.

A Comparative Analysis of Augmented Reality Technologies and their Marketability in the Consumer Electronics Segment

Lucas Roitman*, Jeff Shrager and Terry Winograd

In this paper, we analyse past approaches in designing and marketing Augmented Reality apps or devices, and we discover key issues that prevented their mainstream adoption. We offer insights into novel approaches to marketing consumer technology products; in particular Augmented Reality devices. We analyse marketing strategies in order to understand which have been successful and which problems should be avoided in future campaigns. Although other papers have discussed some of these topics, none of them has discussed them with an interdisciplinary lens. We also attempt to understand how recent Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality devices have been perceived in society and reported by media. This research includes human-computer interaction expert interviews, historical evolution models for consumer technology, and socio-cultural and political analyses.

Biosensors: Their Fundamentals, Designs, Types and Most Recent Impactful Applications: A Review

Jazib Ali1*, Jawayria Najeeb2, Muhammad Asim Ali1, Muhammad Farhan Aslam1 and Ali Raza1

Biosensors are the devices that capture the biological signal and convert it into a detectable electrical signal. It involves the combination of biological entities like DNA, RNA, and proteins/enzymes to the electrochemical transducers in order to detect and observe certain biological analytes like antibody-antigen interaction. Several types of biosensors have been known that have been successfully employed in the fields of environment, biomedical and food industries to detect and remove certain contaminants, weather non-living or living entities. Amperometric, Optical, Surface Plasmon Resonance, enzymatic, DNA, Phage, and bacterial sensors are the common sensors being employed today. These biosensors can be used for the detection of the broad spectrum of biological analytes and have shown greater responses and success in medical laboratories, food bioanalysis, microbial detection etc. Detection of the lower or higher limits of glucose in body, microbial invasion in body and food, heavy metals detection in soil, water and air-borne microbes, pesticides in water and soil and various harmful chemicals produced by body, can be easily and timely monitored with high precision using the different types of biosensors with few modifications.
